2020: Winter Food Relief for Askole Village

Askole Village, in the remote foothills of the Karakoram Mountains at the start of the K2 trek is facing an exceedingly difficult winter. As the snow starts to fall, many families have been left hungry and facing hardship due to the absence of trekkers and expeditions this summer. Responding to a request for help, the Juniper Trust has this week delivered a month’s supply of basic food ingredients to 40 families in Askole. A team of volunteers led by Ayub Khan braved the difficult conditions to deliver two jeep loads of flour, rice, tea, sugar, dahl and soap for washing to the neediest families.  We hope to help again when we can, donate just £30 to feed a family for a month this winter.
