2020: Planting our first 2000 Fruit Trees in Nepal

Nepal Evergreen : Before

In early October 2020, the first 600 saplings of various fruit trees were collected from a Kathmandu nursery and transported to Kinja, where they were planted for free with the help of locals. The saplings include Walnut, Pecan, Peach, Plum, Sichuan Pepper, Mandarin, and Lapsi, and are expected to generate fruit income for up to a decade. The next batch of 1,400 saplings is ready for collection and will hopefully be planted in the first two weeks of November. The goal is to plant a total of 10,000 trees, with 4,000 to be ordered in January 2021 for planting in the spring, and the remaining 4,000 to be ordered in the autumn. The budget for this project is $10,000, with $1 covering the cost of planting each tree. The cost includes 80% for purchasing and transporting the saplings, and 20% for paying local labor from the communities that will benefit.
