Why this project needed our help?

In 2005, Congress School, located on the outskirts of Darjeeling, requested assistance for the rebuilding of their tin classrooms which had leaked during the monsoon season. Juniper Trust donated £12,000, which enabled the complete rebuilding of the school. Leftover funds were also used to build a hall that provides students with a recreation room housing a small attached library and a mini-theater for school performances

In the spring of 2006, York College (UK) visited the school and assisted with whitewashing the walls and joined in some celebrations to recognize the completion of the project. In the spring of 2007, King Edwards School (UK) also visited Congress School, as part of their trip to India, and established a link with a promise to help where they can.

The school was completed in the spring of 2006, and the following year, King Edwards School pledged further help if possible. With the improved conditions, student numbers have increased, and no further donations are required at the moment, highlighting the success of this project. Juniper Trust thanks Rimo Expeditions in India for their part in the project.
