Why this project needed our help?

Volunteer-run and driven by a remarkable vision, Nepal Evergreen is transforming lives and landscapes in the heart of Nepal. With a steadfast commitment to planting trees and plants in impoverished rural regions, their mission goes far beyond restoring natural habitats. They aim to create economic opportunities and empower local communities through farms, orchards, and private lands. The vision of planting 100,000 fruit trees is nothing short of transformative for these rural communities. One of their key focuses is empowering women, providing economic and health benefits that ripple through the entire community. The fruit trees offer stability, enhance food security, and improve nutrition, creating a sustainable income source that lifts local farmers and their families. With consistent and stable income, farmers can meet essential needs like food, shelter, and education. They can also sell their produce in local markets or to the tourism industry, opening up additional income opportunities. The positive impact extends to community health, as the availability of nutritious fruits leads to improved well-being and better health outcomes.

Beyond their commitment to natural habitats, Nepal Evergreen takes a holistic approach by planting diverse arrays of trees and plants. By utilizing organic local fertilizers and preserving biodiversity, they actively contribute to the region’s rich ecological balance. This approach extends to farms, orchards, and private lands, fostering economic opportunities for local communities. These fertile grounds become the foundation for cottage industries, enabling the production of value-added products and boosting the local economy. Through embracing sustainable agricultural practices and safeguarding soil health, Nepal Evergreen honors traditional farming methods while addressing the pressing challenges of biodiversity loss and deforestation.

In the face of the carbon footprint associated with tourism, Nepal Evergreen’s planting of 20 different species of trees and plants offers a powerful strategy for mitigation. By maximizing carbon sequestration through a diverse range of species, they counterbalance some of the emissions produced by the tourism industry. Trees, through the process of photosynthesis, absorb carbon dioxide and store it within their biomass. This not only mitigates carbon emissions but also creates a resilient ecosystem that addresses soil erosion, flooding, and drought, safeguarding both the environment and the tourism sector.

The story of Nepal Evergreen is one of hope, resilience, and sustainable transformation. Their journey towards a sustainable future is fueled by the dedication of volunteers and the support of global communities. Together, we can create a greener and more resilient world, one tree at a time, and ensure a brighter future for Nepal and the generations to come.
